There was a meeting of the Carnbee and Arncroach Community Council on Monday 7th September at 7.30 in Arncroach Church Hall. Present were Adrian Snowball (Vice Chair), Robert Watson, Natalie Ridge, Helen Blyde, Richard Duffus, Janet Lodge and Cllr Riches. There were 5 members of the public present. 1) Apologies from Ian MacIntyre, Cllr Docherty, Cllr MacGregor, Mary Wilson and Andrew Stevenson. In a change to the agenda Kyle Marley spoke and answered questions about the project to introduce superfast broadband to rural areas. The Scottish Government hopes to have this installed by BT over 95% of the country by 2017. Some rural areas will not be included.The East Neuk Communities Forum and the Howe of Fife communities hope to form a limited company that will work not only for broadband but on other projects in rural areas. The superfast broadband in rural Fife will not receive 100% funding. 11% has to be found. Kyle is collecting data. By October companies will be able to tender for the setting up of the infrastructure. 2) The Minutes of June 1st were signed off as correct. 3) CDT. There was a long overdue AGM on 17th August. Mary Wilson has joined the board. There will shortly be another AGM before the end of the year for 2015. 4) Gillingshill. No movement. ‘Treading water’. (ER) 5) Roads. Closures – i) Colinsburgh Straight 14 -18th Sept. for re-surfacing. ii) Anstruther – St Andrews at Bonerbo for drainage work 14th -18th Sept. (Mr Stevenson would like to speak with the engineer before work starts). iii) 21-25th Sept. north of Largoward for drainage work. No plans for drainage work at Balmakin but there are ‘flood’ signs now. Vegetation is blocking sightline at Carvenom junction. Hedge at Falside bridge needs to be cut back. There is to be a meeting with the power company about loose unburied cables . 6) Councillor’s Report. Chevron replaced at Balmonth corner. Often ignored. An extra warning sign needed? 7) Treasurer’s Report. £1957.02 in bank. 8) Planning. i) extension at Cantyhall applied for. ii) replacement windows at 1 Main Road, Arncroach approved. AOB i) could there not be better neighbour notification of road closures? ii) weeds in gardens of empty properties in Castle Street. Fife Council can do something about it. iii) too much ragwort growing locally. It is notifiable. Can it be cut? iv) Macmillan coffee morning on Thursday 24th September in Arncroach Church Hall from 10 am -2 pm. Thanks to all. The next meeting is on Dec. 7th .
